Replacing concrete slabs with pavers

Hello Residents,

As we look to continue our shoring up of the waterproofing around the property, one of the discussion points at the last open session was related to potentially replacing the concrete patios and balcony slabs with a new multi-layer paver system.

Some key benefits of the paver system over the standard concrete slabs are that they:

  • Provide far greater water drainage - critical to long-term health of the property

  • Are far easier to maintain, by providing easier access to drains that may need unclogging.

  • Weigh less than concrete and puts less strain on the podium

To make it easier to visualize, we have provided a diagram one vendor provided us of how the system works below.

Image of the layers that make up the entire paver system - showing how the water more easily drains and how we could lift out a smaller section to clean any drains needed underneath that get clogged. Note TBD whether insulation layer will be needed.

We are still in the early discussions around this potential paver system, getting quotes, etc. Once we have new information to share, we will make sure to provide at the earliest available time.

Regards,
